Guide to using the Matic Bridge to bridge tokens from Ethereum to Polygon (Matic Network)

In the previous article, we explained that it was possible to use the Zapper Bridge to bridge tokens from Ethereum to Polygon.

In this guide, we will show you an alternate way to bridge tokens, this time using the official Matic Bridge — otherwise known as the PoS Bridge (Proof-of-Stake bridge).

Pre-requisites

ETH on your Ethereum wallet

Token you wish to bridge

Login onto the Matic Web Wallet

Head over to the Matic Web Wallet.

Matic Web Wallet

Connect to your Ethereum wallet using one of the methods above, Metamask is suggested.

You’d be asked to sign the transaction — click on Sign (it costs nothing).

Click Sign

Once you have connected, you will see a dashboard showing your all token balances on Polygon.

Dashboard

Click on Move funds to Matic Mainnet.

Use the dropdown to choose the token to bridge over.

Then input the quantity to bridge.

Bridging ETH to Matic Network

Click Transfer, then click Continue to move funds from Ethereum to Matic.

You’ll be shown a transfer overview that shows the total gas required to bridge the token over, click Continue to proceed and follow the instructions on screen.

Once your tokens are transferred, it will take 8–10 minutes for them to arrive on your wallet address on Polygon. You can view them in the dashboard above.

What can you do on Polygon/Matic Network?

Well there are a couple of things you can currently do on Polygon.

Swap tokens on QuickSwap

Lend them on Aave (guide)

Pool liquidity on Curve

Save with mStable (guide)

… and many more!
