Project Spotlight: Decentral.Games — A Decentralized Virtual Casino, Owned by the Players

Polygon’s vibrant ecosystem of projects and Dapps has led to wide adoption with more than 60M transactions, 686K unique users thanks to 250+ brilliant decentralized applications.

Introducing Project Spotlight: an initiative to highlight and get to know the Dapps on Polygon a little better!

Our third project in this series is Decentral.Games: a decentralized virtual casino, fully owned by the players!

With more than 5000 active players and addictive games like Blackjack, Texas Hold-Em Poker and Roulette and partnerships with Atari, Decentral.Games is a unique virtual casino, fully owned by the players. This means at DG, you can become the house!

Can you introduce us to the awesome team building Decentral.Games?

The DG Team is 40-strong, with 25 members part of the development, operations, and marketing team and 15 members part of the casino floor staff who take shifts in-world in the Decentraland metaverse. Both are essential for the survival and growth of DG!

Please tell us a little about Decentral.Games and its virtual casino.

People should be excited about DG because we are the first DAO-governed casino, and the first social 3D metaverse casino. DG token holders get to “be the house” and govern the profits from the casino akin to how token holders govern DeFi protocol direction and growth.

DG also pioneered play-to-earn, as all crypto players get rewarded in DG tokens on top of their typical wins and losses. These rewards are based on the amount wagered, so you mine DG tokens whether you win or lose.

Why did you guys choose Polygon for scaling?

We chose to build on Polygon/Matic due to the developer friendly approach the founding team had, the low fees, and the 2 second block times for quicker finality. As all of our in-game transactions are on-chain, it was essential to use Polygon.

What got your team into Blockchain and Crypto?

We were lured to blockchain as it provides the infrastructure to build much more transparent consumer applications.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself!

A fun fact about our team is that the 40 of us span 26 countries!
