In a recent development, Sandeep Nailwal, the founder of Polygon, extended his congratulations to the StarkWare team, especially co-founder Eli Ben-Sasson, for their significant step of open-sourcing the Stone Prover. StarkWare, renowned for their work on scalable transparent argument of knowledge (STARK) technology, has announced that the Stone Prover will be released as open source on August 31, 2023.

The Role of Stone Prover

According to a blog post shared by StarkWare, the Stone Prover (formerly known as STARK Prover) holds a pivotal position within the company’s technology stack. One of its primary functionalities involves compressing transactions and creating cryptographic proofs. This aspect adds remarkable value to Ethereum scaling solutions, such as Polygon, championed by Sandeep Nailwal.

Open Source Announcement and Details

The decision to open source the Stone Prover was initially disclosed in February 2023, under the terms of the Apache 2.0 license. The forthcoming Starknet Summit, scheduled for August 31, will include an insightful code review session focusing on the Stone Prover. Subsequent to this review, the source code will be accessible to the broader cryptocurrency community.
