Polygon zkEVM Mainnet Beta Receives Major Upgrade

In a highly positive development, the Polygon zkEVM mainnet beta is poised to receive its first major upgrade, known as Dragon Fruit or ForkID5. The zkEVM mainnet beta was initially launched in March of this year and serves as a versatile Ethereum scaling protocol with EVM equivalence.

The Dragon Fruit upgrade necessitates an upgrade of the Polygon.zkEVM.sol consensus contract. Following the governance model of Polygon zkEVM, the upgrade process has already been initiated and executed, with an expected conclusion date of September 10.

The Dragon Fruit upgrade includes the latest EVM opcode, PUSH0, which will bring Polygon zkEVM up to date with Solidity v0.8.21. It is anticipated to go live on the mainnet during the week of September 11.
